Welcome to Big Salt Charters! I'm Captain Matt Stelzer, a proud resident of Arrowsic Island. For nearly 50 years, I've explored the Kennebec River and the surrounding waters of Midcoast Maine, developing a deep appreciation for this area's rich maritime history, abundant wildlife, and breathtaking scenery.

As a U.S. Coast Guard 50-Ton Master Captain and Registered Maine Master Guide for more than 20 years, my goal is to provide every guest with a safe, relaxing, and unforgettable experience on the water. Whether you're interested in a scenic cruise, wildlife viewing, lighthouse tour, sunset excursion, or a customized adventure, I'll help you discover the beauty of Maine from a unique perspective.

Your safety is always my highest priority. I maintain current First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications and am committed to providing a professional, enjoyable experience for every guest.

I am also proud to be a member of the National Association of Charterboat Operators, the Maine Association of Charterboat Captains, and a founding member of the Bath Captains Association.
